Like all sports, safety, and safety equipment is constantly evolving to include new types of safety wear.

Softball is a hard ball sport, and so there are risks to the head of players who bat, or who play close infield positions - Pitcher, 1st base and 3rd base. Juniors especially can be scared of the ball, and this can cause reticence about trying some positions.

Ideally juniors should have their own face masks rather than having to share, this would mean their equipment is set up for them at all times rather than having to adjust communal equipment.
It can be expensive for parents with a sport like softball, shoes, fees, uniform, glove all add up and parents may instead consider sports with cheaper requirements.

New face protective equipment will shortly become mandatory, at $90 each it adds to the costs that the parents of junior players have to bear for their children to play the sport of softball.

Our fundraising will hopefully ensure all players who play infield positions will have access to a club provided face shield.
