The Men’s Volleyroos do not currently receive Government funding support to prepare for or compete in international competitions, despite being well supported for staff salaries by the FIVB (International Volleyball Federation). While Volleyball Australia is able to fund the senior team for essential international competitions and preparation for these competitions, its capacity to fund the development of the young players who will form the core of the 2032 team is limited. 

In 2024 these athletes are in the 15-24 age range, mostly still at high school or university and are required to self fund any development activities they undertake including training camps and international competitions. They have limited or no international Volleyball experience so we have lots of work to do. We have some exceptional talent to work with - young players who are excelling in College competition in USA and Canada and others making their mark early in their European club careers, and shining in domestic junior competitions.

This project is aimed at supporting targeted development athletes to attend training camps and gain international competition experience.

In 2024 we will take these players to an invitational tournament in Korea, with Japan and Egypt also competing. We seek your assistance to address this significant resourcing gap and support the development of our best young athletes for future international representation.
