We’re proud to announce the recipients of our 2025 Active Kids Grant, generously funded by The Dickinson Foundation. This year, 179 volunteer-run clubs across the country will share in more than $600,000 worth of uniforms and sporting equipment, including retail and shipping value, to help keep kids playing the sport they love.

From netball courts in New South Wales to gymnastics clubs in regional Western Australia, the grant is reaching clubs in every corner of the country, supporting a diverse mix of sports and communities. Every recipient has one thing in common: they’re working to break down barriers to participation and build a love of sport that lasts a lifetime.

Now in its fifth year, the Active Kids Grant has provided more than $2.4 million in support to over 600 grassroots clubs and organisations across Australia. This latest round alone saw 571 applications, with successful clubs receiving gear through our supply partners, ISC and HART Sport.

Helping clubs support their communities

The support provided by The Dickinson Foundation and the Active Kids Grant makes a real difference for clubs working hard to deliver sport at the grassroots level, especially in disadvantaged areas. For many, this grant eases the pressure on volunteers and gives young players the gear they need to feel included.

“Thank you so much for the grant,” said Cambridge Park Netball Club Secretary, Belinda. “We are honoured and grateful to be chosen. This grant means our training kits will be better for our players, and we can finally retire some well-loved balls.”

Aaron Chinn, Treasurer of Newcomb Football and Netball Club, which aims to provide children in the area with affordable access to increase participation in sport, shared a similar sentiment.

“Thank you to ASF and The Dickinson Foundation for running the grant programs and all the funding assistance you provide to help support local Sports Clubs and participants. The equipment we will receive as part of this grant will help our kids so much and the club is so grateful to receive this equipment."

Sport for all, no matter the postcode

This year’s recipients span 30 sports, with funding supporting everything from equestrian games equipment and inclusive baseball kits to soccer balls, netball bibs and uniforms for players who would otherwise go without.

Australian Sports Foundation CEO Sue Hunt said the grant was about more than just gear. It’s about giving kids the chance to feel part of a team and experience the mental, physical and social benefits of sport.

“Grassroots clubs are the heart of Australian sport. They build healthier, happier communities, yet they are often the most under-resourced. The Australian Sports Foundation is proud to work alongside our partners and generous donors to provide practical support like uniforms and equipment, and to offer clubs the tools to fundraise for themselves through our platform.” she said.

David Dickinson, of the Dickinson Foundation, echoed the sentiment:

“At a time when financial pressures are holding too many families back, these grants are helping local clubs provide the uniforms and equipment young Australians need to stay active and thrive.”

Applications open again in 2026

Applications for the next Active Kids Grant will open in early 2026.

In the meantime, grassroots clubs can raise tax-deductible funds for their own uniforms and equipment with the Australian Sports Foundation fundraising platform.
