Leadership Update at the Australian Sports Foundation
September 09, 2025
The Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) today announces that Sue Hunt AM will step down as Chief Executive Officer on 12 September 2025.
Sue joined the ASF in September 2024 and has played an important role in guiding the organisation through a period of transition. We thank Sue for her leadership during this time, which has included overseeing the launch of ASF’s new fundraising platform, the onboarding of a new Chair and several Board members, and the commencement of a philanthropic engagement strategy to further grow fundraising for sport across Australia.
Sue reflected on her time at the ASF, stating:
"Sport plays such an important role in the lives of Australians, and it has been a privilege to contribute to the ASF's mission. I am confident the organisation is in a strong position to continue growing its impact for clubs, athletes and communities across the country."
Contributing to ASF's Growth and Impact
Sue’s leadership has helped the ASF strengthen its position as the nation’s most trusted fundraising partner for sport. During her time with the ASF, she has supported the organisation in continuing to enable sporting clubs, organisations and athletes to access vital funding, while also laying the groundwork for future growth in the lead up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
ASF Chair, Professor Sarah Kelly OAM, expressed her thanks on behalf of the Board:
"Sue has led the ASF through a year of significant change and helped position the Foundation for its next phase of growth. I am grateful for her leadership and contribution, and on behalf of the Board I wish her the very best in her future endeavours."
Looking to the Future
Following Sue’s departure, ASF Chief Partnerships Officer Ryan Holloway will step into the role of Interim CEO while the Board undertakes the process of recruiting and appointing a new Chief Executive.
Ryan has been with the ASF for almost nine years and, since 2021, has led its partnerships strategy as Chief Partnerships Officer. In this role, he has played a central part in growing the organisation’s reach and strengthening relationships with clubs, athletes, donors and sporting bodies across the country. His deep knowledge of the ASF and its stakeholders ensures the organisation is well placed under his leadership as Interim CEO.
On his appointment, Ryan said:
“It’s a privilege to step into the Interim CEO role and to continue building on the strong foundations the ASF has in place. I look forward to working with our talented team, our Board and our partners to further grow philanthropic support for sport and ensure that all Australians can benefit from the opportunities sport provides.”
The ASF remains committed to growing philanthropic investment in sport and strengthening opportunities for athletes, clubs and communities nationwide. With the support of our partners, donors and the broader sporting community, we will continue to broaden access to sport and ensure more Australians can experience its benefits.
