There were plenty of smiles at Mascot Juniors Rugby League Football Club recently as 96 young players were surprised with a brand-new pair of ASICS football boots, thanks to Swysh, ASICS and the Australian Sports Foundation.

The surprise was made even more memorable by South Sydney Rabbitohs captain Cameron Murray, who returned to his junior club to present the boots before sticking around for photos, signing autographs and chatting with players ahead of their training session.

For Murray, the visit was a chance to return to familiar surroundings.

"It's pretty nice to be back here and just remind yourself where it all started."

The boot giveaway formed part of a Swysh Giving Moment – surprise community experiences delivered through Swysh's partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation to help make sport more accessible for young Australians.

With Swysh providing over $7,000 worth of ASICS football boots, nearly 100 young players were able to head into training with brand-new footwear, helping ease the cost of participation for local families.

Australian Sports Foundation Chief Executive Officer Jerril Rechter AM said partnerships like this demonstrate the power of sport to bring communities together.

"Community sport has the power to shape confidence, connection and belonging, but only if young people have the opportunity to take part. Addressing barriers to participation, including cost, helps to ensure more children can participate, thrive and enjoy the lifelong benefits of sport."

Swysh CEO Michael Roth said community sport sits at the heart of what the company hopes to achieve through its partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation.

"Community clubs are at the heart of Australian sport, and we know the rising cost of equipment can make it harder for families to stay involved. If we can help take some of that pressure away and put smiles on kids' faces at the same time, that's a pretty special outcome."

The surprise giveaway is one of a number of community initiatives delivered through the partnership between Swysh and the Australian Sports Foundation, which sees 10% of every personalised video message purchased on Swysh in featured months helping support grassroots sport across Australia.

That support also powers the Swysh Future Stars Grant, with the second annual round opening in August 2026. The grant provides community clubs with up to $5,000 worth of sporting equipment, helping reduce costs for families and ensure more young Australians can get involved in the sports they love.

For the players at Mascot Juniors, though, the impact was immediate. A regular training night became one they'll remember for years to come, with brand-new boots on their feet and a surprise visit from one of the game's biggest stars.
