My name is Dominic O’Shannessy and I am a 23-year-old golfer from Sydney, Australia. Since leaving school I’ve had the dream of pursuing golf professionally. Despite picking up a club for the first time 6 years ago, I’ve challenged myself everyday to become the best golfer I can be. 

Originally coming from a Cricket background where I represented my State and Country at an U19 level. I understand the level of dedication and sacrifice elite sport requires. However, of equal importance the level of support it requires from those around you. Over the last six years I have got my game to a place technically and skill wise that can compete at an elite amateur level. Over the last few years I have competed in a large amount of elite amateur events in Aus and NZ.

As an athlete nothing can replicate high quality tournament play. This is where the next stage of my journey lay. I have decided to turn pro in 2026 and venture overseas to compete on the Clutch Pro Tour in the UK. This is a feeder tour which provides playing opportunities toward the main tour in Europe.

In order to achieve my ambitions, there are  financial hurdles. Golf requires travel, there is no way around it. Golf tournaments accelerate development quicker than any practise can.
