My name is Jamie-Lee Surha, and I am a regional athlete originally from Mackay, Queensland. I have been playing hockey for 13 years and have proudly represented Queensland in state teams since the Under-12 level. Recently, I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to debut for the Hockeyroos during the Europe Pro League.

In early 2023, I was invited to relocate to Brisbane to further pursue my development in hockey and begin building my professional career. Since making the move, I have become a member of the Queensland Academy of Sport, where I maintain a demanding training schedule that includes 2–3 gym sessions, 3 on-field training sessions, and a competitive match each weekend.

My sporting commitments involve frequent interstate and international travel for tournaments and competitions. While these opportunities are invaluable for my growth as an athlete, they also present financial challenges, as I am often unable to work while travelling.

Ultimately, my goal is to earn selection to the national women's hockey team—the Hockeyroos—and relocate to Perth to continue competing and training at the highest level.
