At just 16 years old, Riley Scott from Currumbin QLD has achieved something extraordinary: He has been selected for the Jrn World Championship Team in his first year competing in the Under 18 division.

Recognition from Paddle Australia that Riley is one of the best young canoe sprint athletes in the country, competing across K1 (Kayak Single) and K2 (Kayak Double) divisions. This is a remarkable achievement form such a young athlete. 

Riley has had a remarkable 2026 season, competing at Grand Prix 1 VIC, Grand Prix 2 Sydney, the QLD state titles , and both the 2026 Australian Nationals Championships in WA and NZ Sprint Nationals at Lake Karapero.

These events all cost money to attend, and Riley has already invested significantly to get to these events and achieve selection for the Australian Team.

Riley achieved the following results at the 2026 Australian National Championships -

3rd u/18 k1 500

2nd u/18 k1 200

1st u/18 k4 500

1st u/18 mixed k4 500 

1st u/18 k2 500 

And this isn't his first time on the world stage. Last year Riley qualified for and raced in the Asia Pacific Championship  in Japan competing against the best junior sprint paddlers in the world winning an impressive 7 x gold and 1 x silver medals across all divisions 

Whilst Riley is still at school competing year 12, he also holds down 2 jobs in addition to his training commitments and  external tafe education. This shows the commitment required to achieve results at a high level.

The funds raised will go towards Riley’s 2026 Worlds campaign, and the associated cost of international competition moving forward.
